Since its inception in 1995 by Ray and Linda Labbe, Isaiah 58 has been a street outreach in “soup kitchen” style. Now, Tom and Sue Healy feed the homeless and needy, healing the broken hearted and down trodden through the gift of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Healys invite you to take part in reaching out to the lost and hurting, while bringing comfort and the good news of Jesus. Three Saturdays a month, the Healys and their devoted volunteers park their “Big Blue” van in New Britain, opposite St. Mary’s RC Church at 544 Main Street to organize donated food and clothing and prepare soup and the gospel for those in need.
For over a decade, we at St. Peter’s have collected specific items each month. On the third Saturday of the month, representatives from the church deliver our donations and then stay to help in whatever capacity is needed. Each winter, we also provide handmade scarves and hats made by the women of Heavenly Hugs, and gloves and socks donated by parishioners. Look for the collection box and the list of requested items in the parish hall.
