Transition Prayer

Creator God, who set the universe in motion in Your own time, continue to keep us in Your care as we move on in our rector search, and bless the one You have already chosen to lead us. Knowing that our ways are not Your ways, grant us patience, strength, and encouragement to uphold and love You and each other until we know the joy of Your completed plan for us. AMEN

To the next rector of St. Peter’s:
We love our church and we love the imperfect people in it. We come to St. Peter’s to praise God and to quietly reflect, and we also want to be inspired. We want to understand how stories from thousands of years ago apply to our lives today. We want to grow in our faith and learn to share that faith more openly. We want you to guide us.
We know that life is busier than ever and we can see that in our own membership. We are a mission-focused parish – personally and financially involved in local, national, and international mission projects; prayer shawl ministry; Emmaus – and we hope to do even more. We’d like to embrace our youth more enthusiastically, sing out more joyfully, and reach beyond our walls more regularly. We know that God is at work in South Windsor and we are ready to be part of it. We are ready to expand our use of technology and social media. We want all parishioners to be excited about being involved and to share that excitement with others seeking a parish home. We want you to lead us.
We also come to church to see our friends. We’ve formed these friendships not only from seeing each other in the pews, but from chatting at coffee hour, learning at Bible studies, and laughing at social events. We could each tell a story about the day a fellow parishioner became a friend, whether it was side-by-side scooping pasta for a spaghetti supper, herding shepherds down the aisle at a Christmas pageant, or repairing the roof at the rectory. We want you to be a friend among us.
Jesus said, Love God and love your neighbors. We know it. We’re trying to live it. We want you to live it with us.
In Christ,
The Transition Team on behalf of St. Peter’s family
