St. Peter’s hosted its first service to bless beloved pets the grounds of the church in 2018. The occasion is timed to honor St. Francis, patron saint of animals, on or near his October 4 feast day.

Individuals and families are welcome to bring their dogs, cats, birds, chickens, rabbits, and so on, to be blessed. Pets must be secured by leash, cage, or crate for everyone’s safety. If it’s not possible to bring the pet safely, a photograph or other item pertaining to them may be brought as a substitute. Additionally, stuffed animals may be brought to receive a blessing, as well as a photograph or memento of a pet who has died.

This fall we will hold our service of blessing on Sunday, October 1, at 1:30 on the church lawn. We look forward to seeing you and your pet!
